2025 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

The Serra Center was established in 1975 by the National Benevolent Association, the health and human services arm of the Christian Church. Our mission has been to provide dignity, respect and choice for people with developmental disabilities in our local community. Serra Center provides a wide range of services and programs that help our clients live their best life.  24-hour care and nursing services are provided in Serra Center's three intermediate care facilities. Supported Living Services are provided, which are designed to help individuals to work towards long-term goals while exercising meaningful choice and control in their daily lives. We also serve clients that are more independent. Our dedicated team of caregivers assists our Independent Living Clients with household maintenance, personal safety, money management, shopping, cooking and other skills.

Serra Center clients enjoy many programs that make a difference for them. They enjoy art classes, our annual awareness walk and day programs offered by the Fremont Unified School District. These programs are highlights for our clients.  The grant that we received from Supervisor David Haubert will be used to enhance the programs, develop additional opportunities for our and recruit more qualified caregivers.
